Orginially from Ohio, I went to the big city of New York for about 5 years (mainly for school), and now I am working towards my masters at Cambridge in England. I hope this website gives everyone a taste of what my life is like here... and if nothing else I think you will find it fun and entertaining!!

International Food: Brigadeiro
I was so happy to show up at International Food Night at Churchill, but so sad that I only got there for the tail end (although I had a super fun time at David's birthday dinner). I totally missed Shoop's Singapore Workout and Tim's apparently amazing descriptions of Canada... but I made it in time to taste Yuri's sooooo yummy chocolate ball treat thingys from Brazil!! After falling madly in love with them, Yuri told me how simple they were to make... and has sent me the recipe!!! YAAAY thank you so much Yuri. So I decided to post it here for everyone's viewing pleasure...
Brigadeiro Recipe
1 can of condensed milk
3-4 spoons of chocolate powder (like Nesquik - exact quantity depends on powder and on individual preferences...)
1 spoon of butter or margarine
Put all ingredients in a bowl (better deep) and mix well so that it is
homogeneous. Take to the microwave oven for three minutes at maximum power. Remove, mix well so that it is homogeneous again and put it back into the microwave oven for more 4 minutes at maximum power. Remove and mix again until it gets homogeneous. (Depending on the microwave oven, it might be good to put it in again for an extra 2-4 minutes. Note that excessive cooking will make it too "hard" and too sweet...). Put it in a shallow bowl and wait for it to cool. When it is cool, form balls and cover it with chocolate sprinkles.
Yuri got this recipe from the following website (in Portuguese) and translated it YAAY thank you sooo much.
