Orginially from Ohio, I went to the big city of New York for about 5 years (mainly for school), and now I am working towards my masters at Cambridge in England. I hope this website gives everyone a taste of what my life is like here... and if nothing else I think you will find it fun and entertaining!!

So now I absolutely must vent about the horrible water faucet structure in england. 99% of sinks seem to have two faucets, so either you wash your hands with burning hot water or freezing cold water. Now of course you can always put the stopper in the sink and fill it with half cold and half hot water to make something nice... but who has time for that, plus thats a bit on the disgusting side. Now the "lucky" other percent who have one faucet for both hot and cold aren't really too much luckier... it just means the front half of the water stream is freezing and the back half is boiling hot.... they do not mix it first. Now this makes for a particularly horrible time washing your face. We have all discovered that for the first about 30 seconds the water isnt too freezing yet, so we strategically have all figured out how to wash our faces incredibly fast.
On another note, I FINALLY have my bank appointment today. In America, if you have any money and go to a bank to open an account, they don't let you leave until they have your money!! They even often give you presents to open accounts at their bank!! Not here. Here I waited over an hour in a line to open an account, just to get a slip with an appointment in two weeks when they would "consider" giving me for an account. All I know is that they better approve me because I have a check from the Churchill Foundation that needs to be deposited and spent by me!!
Now onto the cooler news... tonight I get to go to King's college for a night of free Vegetarian food!! Hopefully I will feel ok by then. I have been feeling like rubbish lately (particularly yesterday and last night night especially so). I think the sleep helped me though. Oh and update on the fun Saturday plans... it will be formal hall at Pembroke followed by the Queen's bop... now if only i could get my stupid bike to work, I will work on that today I think. Ok time to get ready!!
Cheers!!
