The Life of Diana

As promised, here are pictures (tons of them in fact), from super hall last night!!

Left to Right: Monique, Dan, me and Tim... it is hard to tell here, but Dan has a REALLLLY cute giraffe tie on!! And Tim actually has on a garfield tie... hehe actually you will notice throughout the night a theme of cool ties... perhaps I am tie obsessed!! Oh and I also LOVE Monique's pink jacket.

Here we are all waiting for the gong to be sounded so that the fellows have entered and said their Latin prayer and let us all sit.  hehe meanwhile, Lucy's friend from lab is getting a little impatient and shooting everyone!! Also, note all the bottles of wine and vodka on the table... and yes we do drink it ALL!!! I will get on to the fun games later.  The worst last night BY FAR was Justin, who must have drink at least 3/4 of a bottle of vodka and coke... but last I saw of him, he was still ok.

hehe sorry, I know the pic is sideways... I will deal with it later.  This is the fellows table.  Notice how they get pretty floral centerpieces and we don't!!  Basically the meal revolves around their table.  The first gong means they allow us to sit and begin.  The second gong means we all stand because the fellows are done and we wait for them to leave to their secret special room where they get special coffee and cigars. 

Lucy, Stephanie and Lucy's friend from lab who is from Sydney, Australia.  hehe although he was the first one to penny me... and from so far away I have no idea how he managed!! I was sitting kind of at a diagonal do Lucy, so about two people down from him and across the table. I will get on to the "pennying" game soon.

Here is my appetizer... "Salmon Salad" which is basically just a piece of salmon with cucumbers on top hehe.  I was excited because it was fish for once!!! But it was sooooo fishy tasting, and it was served cold, and there was just something about it that was yucky to me.  So what you see there is the bite I tasted before they cleared the plates from appetizers hehe. Note the full glass of wine though!! This was before being pennied.

This is David's seat (the guy sitting right next to me).  Note his large pile of pennies.  Now let me start explaining the game.  Basically you look around for people who have fairly full glasses of wine, and you throw a penny into their wine (and their pennies are not the same as ours... one side has a picture of their queen).  So they say that you have to down the glass of wine as fast as possible to save the queen from drowning.  And then you have to find someone else to penny.  So David is ready with his ammo, and I had no clue so brought no pennies!!! But next time I will know!!

Me and David... this picture does not do his tie justice!! it is actually a really cool purple color.  David is one of the only other jewish people I have met at Churchill hehe.  He is from Melbourne, Australia.

Squeeezzzze!!! YAAY!! Now Vanessa is in the picture.  She had on really cool gloves and a sparkly dress.

Here is the vegetarian dinner.  Mushy veggies and mushy pasta!!! WOO HOOO!!! At least it wasn't mushy veggies and mushy rice again.  But don't worry mom and dad, I didn't eat it because it was not good at all.  The potatoes and green beans and courgiette (that is what they call zucchini here), was good.  Also, notice their midget water glasses.   It is like a shot glass for water!!  The wine glasses are far bigger, but then again, they expect you to drink far more wine than water.

This is the meat main entreee... I believe it was described as chicken with mushroom sauce or something.  Looked better than the vegetarian entree at least, so I decided to show all of you the normal food too.

Wow somehow I managed to get a photo of Justin not being pennied with his vodka!!

Kate (the one standing) and Lucy... Kate just started working in Lucy's lab, so of course had to show the friendly gesture of pennying Lucy.  Lucy don't worry, it will be ok!!! Now save your future grandmother in law!!!

Sheeeesh Paul!!! I was already pennied a gazillion times!! Paul came all the way from the other table to penny me and then took my picture upside down... hehe what a wonderfully artistic shot.

Well her drink was already pennied... so penny her dessert?? It didn't work, she didn't down the dessert. Oh the dessert was by far the yummiest part of dinner.  It was a praline banana truffle cream dessert.  It was fluffy banana cream with a truffle and chocolate center towards the bottom.  Yummmmy!!!

Awww Liz you are sooo adorable together!!! On the other side of the table (right to left) are Joanna, Alex and Shanek (hehe sorry again guys if I misspell anyone's name... do tell me and I will fix the spellings!!!).

YAAY Birthday Time!! We got loud and crazy for birthdays!! First we say "Sir Winston!!" and drink to our founder, and then we sing the birthday song to all three bithday people.

Wooooah there Willy!!! I guess the wine glasses are even too small for him, so he has moved on to drinking straight from the bottle. Ahhhh and two hours later super hall is done.

This is Tim and Justin's drunken hand shake... they can't even get their hands to line up hehehe!!

hehe thank you for posing Dan so I could take a picture of the toga guy :)  I never did find out why that guy had on a toga at the Pav hehe.

Well as you can see it was a very fun and eventful night!!  Now I have to get ready for rowing practice in half an hour, then I have formal hall at Pembroke tonight and the Queen's Bop... I will try to take more photos of course :)
