Orginially from Ohio, I went to the big city of New York for about 5 years (mainly for school), and now I am working towards my masters at Cambridge in England. I hope this website gives everyone a taste of what my life is like here... and if nothing else I think you will find it fun and entertaining!!

Russia!!!!!!!!

So I went on a super exciting trip to Russia... which most of you know about... and if you are a relgious reader of my blog, you will recall my adventures in getting a visa to go to Russia. Well at long last I am posting the photos from the trip that you all have been waiting for... I have tried to cut down... but there are still about 534 photos!! And I am fighting for time at the moment (trying to get done TONS of research before going home to NY for passover WOOOO HOOOO)... so I will post comments as much as I can, and come back and fill in more comments as I get more time and as people remind me what the photos are of hahaha. All of you reading this who went on the russia trip... PLEASE feel free to tell me what good comments for photos are that aren't labelled, because I likely have forgotten what it is a photo of!! Also, since there are sooooo many photos, I am going to try and break them down into logical segments (probably by day).

I went to Russia for 10 days and look at this super tiny suitcase!!! Aren't you all impressed? I borrowed it from Kit because I don't even have a suitcase this small... thanks Kit!!!! I did bring a small duffel bag though for souvenirs for on the way back hehehe.

Meet Lindsay... my soon to be roommate that I met on the plane. When we landed in Moscow, they took us to a local grocery to buy food for our overnight train ride to St. Petersburg. Lindsay got some bread... yummmm!! And she got these yummy waffle-ish cookies... forget what they are called hehe.

This is the American and all other leftovers bus... they separated us out from the british kids who went in their own bus... but ours was clearly cooler hahahaha... KIDDING!!!

Some views of Moscow from out of the bus window.

ohhh nice big building... and glare from the window hehe.

and we are now at the train station...

the trains don't look so modern, do they?

This sign says it short for St. Petersburg... seeeeee I learned how to read Russian throughout the trip ;) ... physics class actually came in useful with all of those letters.

check out all of the snow on the train tracks

Car 11... that is where the adventure begins. The other sign says St. Petersburg and Moscow.

There is a HUGE gap between the train and the platform... I thought for sure me or my bag or both would end up falling into the gap... hehe and they don't even have "mind the gap" signs... or maybe they do, but they are in russian!! the nerve of them hahaha!!

These are the tiny clausterphobic hallways.

And our tiny cabin for four people with lots of luggage.

Anna and Lindsay were on the bottom and

Emily (from Manhattan) and I were on top... little did we know it would become INSANELY hot in the night and that the top bunks were even MORE miserable.

Lindsay is learning to read in russian hehe.

Josh and Saurabh have come to visit us YAAY!!

and Kit has come with water YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

the room next door is eating their dinner / breakfast box that we were given on the train.

We aren't tired yet so we are just chilling in the hallway.

Ohhh my room is so cozy and ready to sleep already.

Emily in her bed.

Me in my bed... I feel boiling hot and nautious just looking at this photo... I fell asleep in this long sleeve sweatshirt and sweatpants, and woke up just feeling like I was going to DIE!!

The boys room... not as colorful and fun hehe.

Oscar and I are going to venture down to the scary loo.

Nooooo you don't wanna go there Diana!!

ohhhh look at this super deluxe dinner / breakfast in a box... after giving Sully my meat meal on the plane... i am STARVING at this point.

so i had a brilliant photo idea... of people popping their heads out of doors along the corridor...

but it didn't quite work... even on take two.

Next morning I woke up DYING of heat... ran to the window... it is bolted shut... so I decide hmmm ok next best thing to do if I'm not going to live is to take a photo to document the massive amounts of dirty snow outside the train hehe.

And that brings us to an end of day 1 / night 1 / and morning 2... so now we are in St. Petersburg. Tune in again soon to see what day 2 has in store for us!!!
