Bender's Birthday!!

So this past monday (feb 21) was Bender's Birthday!!! So Rachel, Ness, Shoop and I were just chilling at Sino Tap... a.k.a. the bar formerly known as the gay bar... and Shoop called Bender to come over for birthday drinks. hehe I was bored and hungry, so I mainly took silly pictures until it was time to go home... so here they are!!

King's Brunch Together

This past Sunday (Feb. 20), Tatyana got a huge group of people together from Churchill and we walked down to brunch at Kings. It was good times. Justin told me he had a dream about me getting engaged at the plodge to Zion, which was super interesting and hopefully a good omen!! Also, Justin is on my awesome people list because he bought me packages of conversation hearts... although the British ones are soooo different from the American ones, they are a lot more like sweet tarts. hehe still interested in some of the Brachs good old classic american ones if any of my american friends out there can find any ;). So on the way back from brunch, we walked through St. Johns... and Justin got the brilliant idea to take some photos... and of course I had my camera... so here they are... to bad the sky is a bit overcast.

what type of plant is that in the foreground?? You can answer by posting a response!!! How come none of you EVER post responses?? Such a passive audience I have!!

WOAH flowers with colors... whats going on??

Joannah says these buildings are really expensive because of the weird material they are made of... I still say they are ugly.

What kind of conversation heart says "Just Say No"??? hehe you can tell this country has a problem with pregnant teenagers!!

Tsunami Concert in Kings Chapel

Tonight I went with Rachel, Ness, Shoop, Herb and Dani to the University of Cambridge Tsunami Appeal Concert in Kings Chapel. This was my first concert at Kings, and the acoustics are AMAZING. I have only been in the chapel one other time, and that was when David Marks' mother was here and I helped her to get in for free with my student id card. It was slightly drafty and cold inside, and afterwards we were told that the chapel is heated from heating in the floor... and it turns out that if you touch the floor, it is actually warm!! It must cost a fortune just to heat up the place, even though it was not very well heated. I took some photos before hand with the special night-photo option, so they came out a little blurred since I had no tripod, but you can get the general feel. Also, I somehow accidentally took some videos of the concert, but it is only audio really with VERY little visual since the camera was sitting in my lap. I think the videos with the choral singing is Zadok the Priest by Handel, and the ones with the orchestrated music is the Cello Concert by Dvorak. Although my personal favorite of the night was probably Jupiter by Holst... although I really enjoyed the cello concerto as well. Afterwards, we headed to the city centre to get fries... Ness had just ketchup on hers AWESOME... but rachel had the works... mayo, ketchup and vinegar... and the guy worked at the van of life kept asking her if she was crazy because Americans don't order vinegar!! Then we took a taxi back, because poor Rachel's feet were BLEEDING from her shoes, isn't that horrible?? Ohhh but the good news was that the Tsunami Concert raised about 5,000 pounds I think they said... isn't that amazing?? Nick (Magdalene Nick... I guess his name is Nicholas Clarke from the program??) and Lee Bassett (Dani's Lee) both sang in the CUMS Chorus... hehe CUMS apparently stands for Cambridge Univ Music Society... although when they call it cums, it sounds hilarious. The concert was really awesome... hehe try listening to the music clips. So after we got back to Churchill in a taxi, and after Rachel changed into new shoes, we went to the mcr for biscuits, hot chocolate and great conversation and a game of taboo... now off to bed.

hehe yup we were near the back in the 5 pound seats.

But honestly... I think we saw and heard fine!!

hehe this is the wall that Ness has decided she wants to climb.

Bollywood Formal Hall at St. Catherine's

Feb 17 (this past Thursday), we had an exchange formal hall at Catz... and the theme was Bollywood... hehe silly me, I thought it meant British Hollywood or something, but nope it is the Hollywood in India... so yup we had indian food, my FAVORITE (hehe note: heavy sarcasm). But actually the food was pretty ok... except that they ran out of vegetarian entrees... not impressed with Catz!! But it was a good time!!

Liz and Shoop... it took a loooong time to get them both to smile for the camera hehe.

Our side dish... indian rice and cauliflower with this weird coconut sauce (read as: YUCK)... the appetizer was samosas though, which was decently edible.

hehe and Adam has found a bottle of wine.

perhaps my favorite thing was the pamadams (hehe spelling???) with mango chutney.

hurry up and pass the mango chutney Adam!!

hehe Adam is concentrating so hard on scooping up some rice.

hehe so they ran out of the vegetarian main entree... so they made me something quickly in the kitchen, which translated into rice with mushrooms and tomates (hehe the rice on the right hand side)... so i had rice with vegies with a side of yellow rice hahahahahaha.

hehe so Dani gave me a brilliant idea that I should take lots of photos of Adam to make up for the fact that we have like NONE of him since he is never around.

Adam sure does know how to handle jugs... here he is holding his two jugs hahahhaha.

awwww Rachel is disappointed too... but it actually starts to taste really good after about 3 spoonfuls.

hehe is that an insect leg in my dessert?? ohhhh noooooo its just lime peel.

Ohhhh look at everyone cutting the cheese hahaa.

Yummmmmmy.... the brie and smoked cheese was realllly nice.

Adam wants to live in a house made of cheese.

Yes the cheese has satisfied the man.

ohhhh he is going in for a bite.

And here we have it... the only photo possibly EVER of Adam's true smile... how did we get him to smile you may ask?? By getting him to talk about the boobs of this girl who was his lover over the summer... Dani said ohh she didn't have very big boobs... and Adam said oh yes she did!! I think I can judge a lot better!! And then he turned to all smiles mwaaa ha ha ha.

ohhhh still serious conversation over cheese.

Then I went to check out the other table with Churchill MCR people.

Ohhh and Shoop is now in the photo YAAAY. Their bathroom was so weird... it was boys and girls in one... so the girls go all the way in and walk pass the urenal wall that guys pee on in order to go in the one toilet that is in there!!! Soooooo weird!!!!
